Parcells Brings Hope Back to Miami

Sure the Dolphins finished this season 1-15.  Sure the Dolphins were probably one of the worst teams in NFL history.  Sure there isn’t much good to take out of the 2007 season for the Dolphins.

Then why are things looking so bright in Miami?

Hmmm.  Can you say Bill Parcells?

New coaching staff for starters.  Parcells will handpick his guys.  Winners.  Guys that know what it will take to build this historic franchise back to the NFL Elite.

First, enter new GM Jeff Ireland.  Ireland is highly regarded, and has spent the last seven years with the Cowboys in Player Personnel.  Ireland has been the Cowboys main scout for the past three years, and has undoubtably helped put some great talent on the field in Big D.  Look for Ireland to continue the trend, and bring in players that can match up with AFC East division rivals, and the entire NFL in large.

Next, bringing in a new head coach.  Out with Cam Cameron.  Parcells will bring in a guy he is comfortable with, knows how to communicate with, and basically understands the concept of winning football.  You can best believe, the new head coach will have already had some experience working with the Big Tuna in the past.

Tony Sparano is the likely appointee to be head coach.  Hmmm, another Cowboy.  See a trend here?

Tony Sparano

Sparano is currently the Dallas Cowboys Offensive Line Coach/Assistant Head Coach.  He has been largely credited to Tony Romo and Jason Witten’s development, along with Offensive Coordinator Jason Garrett.  By and large, both Sparano and Garrett are great candidates for any head coaching openings, and they’ll both get their shot sooner than later.

Speaking of former Cowboys, how bout players?  Could Keyshawn be ready to comeback from retirement to come play for Parcell’s new regime in Miami?  Rumor has it, this is being considered.  Doesn’t surprise me.  Tuna has already re-signed RB Ricky Williams.  Obviously worried about the health of feature back Ronnie Brown.  But hey, think about this, Ricky has had success, maybe far removed, but even still, if anyone can motivate Ricky Williams back into a dedicated contributor in the NFL, I wouldn’t put it past Parcells.

Keyshawn Johnson     Ricky Williams

Will Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas be back?  I think Jason Taylor will try to get paid for the last couple seasons he has left, and I don’t think that will happen in Miami.  Thomas will probably be back, maybe not as prominent in the defense, but nonetheless, a true vocal leader for younger talent, which you know, you damn well know, Parcells will bring in.  Youth!  Speed!  Commitment.  And I guarantee Parcells, or his new head coach, won’t be crying after they win their first game next season.  That’s a lock !!!

I for one will be looking forward to not only next season’s Dolphins, but watching Parcells take a 1-15 team, and use the offseason into turning them into a playoff contender by Winter of 2008.  He’ll do it.  Trust me.
